Fizzy Root Beer Pills

Yes, they used to exist. I can't easily find any information on them on the Internet. Anyone remember these instant soda pills? I think they came in Root Beer and other flavors...you just added them to tap water and they were kind of like alka-seltzer or something.

    As I just posted, you're talking about Fizzies.

    They were big in the 60's, until the FDA banned sodium cyclamate (an artificial sweetener that caused bladder cancer in mice when taken in large doses).

    Someone tried to bring them back in the mid-90's using aspertame (nutrasweet), but they never really caught on.

    In addition to root beer, there was an orange, grape, and cherry flavor--the root beer was one of the best, though.
